2. Objectives

Evaluate thermal sensations and thermal comfort in a mist spraying environment
Confirm cooling effects by measuring environmental factors:
Air temperature
Relative humidity
Mean Radiant Temperature (MRT)
Air velocity
Develop and validate a physiological human model considering mist wettedness
(Comparison of skin temperature in/outside the mist zone)

Field surveys before and after mist exposure
Number of subjects: 1,110
Comparative analysis:
Subjective votes (mTSV & CSV)
Objective environmental measurements
Skin temperature trends (0–10 min outdoor vs 10–20 min mist zone)

4. Key Findings

Thermal Sensation:
‘Hot’ reduced from 98% → 33% after mist exposure
Thermal Comfort:
‘Discomfort’ reduced from 82% → 14%
Environmental Effects:
Air temperature ↓ 3.6°C
MRT ↓ 1.0°C
Humidity ↑ 15.9%
Human Model:
Developed a 3-node thermal model with/without mist wettedness
Accurately estimated thermal state changes via skin temp analysis
